INTRODUCTION

This Institute of Internet History (IOIH) is dedicated to the recording and documenting the history of the Internet, perhaps one of the most important technological developments in human history. Due to the rapid pace of ongoing technological change, and the tendency in the IT community to quickly forget about technologies as soon as they are superseded, we believe that it is vital to accurately record and document Internet history in order that a full and faithful record be maintained for future generations.

This website presents an abridged history of the development of the Internet from its early routes for any interested reader, particularly school and college students. The information presented herein is merely an overview of the comprehensive records and collections of photographs, artifacts and materials held by the Institute.
